Responsible for the overall management of the Women and Families Center’s facilities. This position plans and coordinates daily facilities operations, planned and unplanned maintenance and supervises contracted services related to facilities. Schedule is flexible, anticipated to be 20-25 hours per week.

Part time position, Monday-Friday, flexible schedule required, including occasional evening or weekend hours to perform job duties. Salary range: $21.00-$25.00 per hour with some benefits.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree required, or 5 years facilities management experience in lieu thereof.
  • Three years of facility management experience required, one of which must be in a supervisory capacity.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of facility operations and management practices.
  • Experience managing vendors and contracted service, including working knowledge of electrical, heating, plumbing systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to communicate with senior management both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to problem-solve, good organizational skills, initiative, good judgment and attention to detail.
  • Experience in spreadsheet applications such as Excel, and word processing software applications.

Duties and Responsibilities

This position requires such typical work operations and responsibilities as, but not limited to:

  • Plan and manage daily facility operations.
  • Develop an annual maintenance plan for all facilities.
  • Responsible for obtaining, managing, monitoring and evaluating facility subcontractors and vendors related to the facilities.
  • Assists with repair projects and provides coverage assistance in urgent and emergency situations.
  • Monitors and controls the facility environment to ensure security, and conformance with established policies and regulations.
  • Provides leadership and technical assistance to staff and clients for emergency procedures including electrical failures, elevator emergencies, floods, etc.
  • Responsible for the overall management of the WFC facilities, including negotiating contracts for maintenance and other contracts related to the overall operations of the facilities.
  • Applying preventative measures to the building to reduce the risk of future problems, such as using a sealant on a flat roof.
  • Fixing potential safety hazards to avoid injuries.
  • Performs a variety of routine semi-skilled maintenance for district facilities, including, but not limited to, carpentry, painting, plumbing, and electrical trades work. Ensures that facilities are available for use and consistently maintained in a safe and clean condition.
  • Delivering supplies, equipment, furniture to other sites of service for agency.
  • Assembles, repairs, maintains, and moves furniture, such as desks, cabinets, tables, chairs, shelves, and related fittings and fixtures.
  • Conducts routine inspections and maintenance of heating, electrical, and air conditioning equipment; replaces filters; identifies and reports more complex maintenance needs to supervisor.
  • Inspects facilities and grounds for safety and security; identifies and reports hazardous conditions and facility maintenance needs to supervisor.
  • Follows safe working practices and makes appropriate use of related safety equipment as required.
  • Assists with structural pest control measures.
  • Monitors inventory, orders supplies, and maintains purchase records within authorized budget.
  • Maintains records and logs of daily activities.
  • Assists with agency special events, as needed.
  • Unit Turnover Management
  • a. Communicate with Program Staff regarding unit turnover of Permanent Supportive Housing units. Assess apartment maintenance and upgrade needs as tenants move out and preparation is made for new tenants. Provide the Program Director and Property Manager with estimates of tenant-caused damage that will be charged against the tenant’s security deposit.
  • Additional related tasks as requested.

  • A flexible schedule is required, including occasional evening or weekend hours to perform job duties.
  • Lifting 74 lbs.
  • Ability to travel frequently within service area. Valid Connecticut driver’s license, reliable transportation, and proof of vehicle insurance is required.
