We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant/Bookkeeper. The ideal candidate will be responsible for payroll, managing financial records, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. This role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles and practices, as well as proficiency in various accounting and financial software.

Responsibilities

  • Preparation of the bi-weekly payroll including reviewing timecards for accuracy and transmitting tabulated payroll data to payroll service. Maintain payroll records.
  • Receives and posts financial data to the computerized accounting system. Matches invoices to requisitions and ensures accuracy of amounts and account distributions.
  • Prepares and verifies deposits. Posts cash receipts to the accounting system. Balances cash receipts and accounts including reconciling the monthly bank statements.
  • Processes accounts payable payments adhering to company policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for Grant Financial Management for the programs of the Women and Families Center.
  • Reconciliation of general ledger accounts, accounts payable and accounts receivable upon request.
  • Responds to inquiries through correspondence by telephone or in person.
  • Maintains confidentiality regarding all fiscal and client information.

Qualifications

  • Associate Degree, or equivalent, in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Two years of accounting experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of payroll and accounting concepts, techniques and principles.
  • Demonstrated skill in analyzing and interpreting financial data.
  • Experience with Grant Financial Management, a plus
  • Ability to demonstrate attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Extensive experience in spreadsheet applications such as Excel, accounting software (QuickBooks a plus) and word processing software applications.

This is a part-time position at 20 hours per week.

Rate of pay is $20.00 – $24.00 per hour
